I started this last night and I love it so far. I will say that the thing really tugging at me is the way that the author writes Jacob’s perspective as an old man. A lot of books and movies of course talk about getting old and losing your youth and shit but for some reason the way the author writes him here is so heartbreaking and particularly makes me afraid of getting old

Ok this does not hit as hard as it did when I was 14 and I’m starting to think that Rainbow Rowell thinks the audience is dumb as hell. Just because there are different POVs doesn’t mean you have to keep explaining the same things over and over. WE KNOW. Like I know it’s a YA novel but young adults are not this dumb bruh

So far it’s very interesting I will say that the general and textual introductions can be a bit slow but if you are interested in that then it’s cool, it can be a bit repetitive as well though. I have never actually read the picture of Dorian gray before so to learn the subtext and biography of Oscar Wilde before everything is interesting. Idk
