I love how she thinks that other nuns making joking comments about “posh people” is like legitimate prejudice

Meanwhile she’s laughing out loud when she tells another nun her father is a painter and the other nun thinks she means a house painter rather than a painter of you know, paintings. And she seems to have no clue how that comes off

At first I didn’t like how the authors refer to societies as very “gendered” rather than very “sexist” or “patriarchal” or “male supremacist.” Then I thought, well you can’t have gender without sexism. Sorry authors for doubting you, maybe you are just more feminist than me

“Mary Wollstonecraft, the author of A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, and, strangely, her daughter Mary Shelley - the author of Frankenstein - both died of puerperal fever after giving birth.”

No they did not? Mary Shelley died in her 50s? What a weird error. Tempted to DNF but I’m almost halfway through already
