I'm struggling a lot getting through this book. The circumstances in the book are really dire. Also the love interest is *such* a dick. He isn't real great with consent and he completely negates his love interest's other relationships, basically attempting to isolate him from his few friends because he's a jealous asshole. Bleh.

Starting to pick up now. Yay!

I dunno. Kind of dragging for me. Feels a little flat.

It has gotten, hopefully to rock bottom. I'm really hoping that things will begin to look up soon and the HEA will make up for this painful slog.

This book is tearing me up. It is not light reading and could be triggery for someone with a history of self-harm, OCD, eating disorders, and maybe depression. It is bogging me down pretty hard and I'm feeling really bad for Rob and kind of pissed at Matty even though I know Matty can't really help it.

I mentioned angst, right?

Maybe I'm just cranky but I've been listening to this book for a couple of hours and it has barely left a single room in a brothel. Unless you count the thoughts inside to angsty, lovelorn brains. So far the sex is not making up for the lack of other action or plot. Maybe I need to switch genres for awhile or something. I don't know.

I feel like I've just bumped up to the top of the roller coaster and I'm getting ready to take the plunge into a wild ride. I'm trusting the author to get me to the end, shaken but exhilarated and in one piece.

Also, <spoiler> I know John is hurt and all, but his head is so far up his ass. He *knows* Michael was tortured. He knows he has memory loss and PTSD but he's acting like Michael is a well person playing head games with him. </spoiler> Gah!

This shit is breaking my heart.

Torture is upsetting. :(

Right now I'm having a little trouble with the Republican gung-ho bullshit. Trying to keep an open mind.

This is dragging a little bit for me with all the angst. Dunno why.

Oh dear. Love triangle drama is dramatic.

I've got a bad feeling that this is going to get upsetting. This is why I normally avoid YA. I feel nothing but relief at the reduced angst that comes with middle age. I don't want to immerse myself in it again. :(

I am enjoying this book so far but if I was playing a drinking game where I took a drink every time I read the words led, lead, leader, leading, leadership, you get the idea, I am pretty sure I would be a drunk girl right now.

Guys, guys . . . "Chase was always destined to be mine. You were must (sic) a stepping stone in his path to get to me." I can't. I'm going to, but I can't.

Book is lagging a little bit for me. Not so bad that I think I'll dnf, but yeah . . .

Kinda mad at one of the MCs right now because he is being a cowardly jerk. I understand why he is afraid and I understand the paralysis of self-loathing and indecision and I understand communication being hampered by toxic masculinity but I am still mad at him for hurting the other MC.

I am having a little trouble with Lucas's absolute horror of being treated "like a girl" because he's not a girl without addressing how shitty it often is to be treated like a girl when you are a girl.

Okay, this is a fun series overall but I gotta say the misogyny is getting to me. What is this absolute terror of being treated "like a girl"? I mean, I know how that can be bad but why is it only bad if a dude is being treated that way and why are pussies considered less tough than vaginas? I understand how a man can take more manhandling, but vaginas are tough as shit and probably harder to fuck up than assholes.

I can't decide if the problems I'm having are from the book or the audio narrating. I'm invested in the characters and the plot, so I'm reserving judgement.

Probably shouldn't read stories with truck drivers as main characters. My husband drives a truck and I know too much about that industry to find some of the stuff believable. I'm suspending disbelief in faith that there are going to be plausible explanations.

Kind of a Beauty and the Beast story so far.

I'm in chapter 17 and feeling a little annoyed with Vic for doing stupid stuff and a little sorry for Jacob for having to put up with him.
