“The no-place-ness and no-time-ness of now. The pulsing presence of this moment between moments.”

Probably experiencing this now, during this Raya break. Enjoying the time off although fully aware of the hectic-ness that awaits when I come back into office.

Sifat Allah yang “syakirun alim” was brought up but there was almost no description, let alone explanation of what it entails.
My quick Gemini search gave me more meaning and appreciation on it.

I’m more “disturbed” now by all the informal sentences used e.g. “it’s like” in the middle of Malay sentences and “tapi sebelum ini, kejap kita go through dulu secara bird eye view apa yang terkandung dalam juzuk ini.”

To each his own, I guess. I understand that such writing style appeals to a certain crowd- I guess I’m not one of them. Guess I’m a bit more old-fashioned or conventional on that.

Starting this as part of my Ramadhan read and objective- hoping to increase my appreciation of the alQuran 😊
Bought this last year but didn’t get beyond the prologue. What convinced me to try again was author’s response on this being his favourite work due to the “feel” he put into it.
Sebelum ni mungkin kurang penghayatan, harapnya dengan buku macam ni, dpt menambah lebih “rasa” terhadap alQuran.

It’s now my bedtime book. Got me reading again on my Kindle.
The first 3 essays are okay, though I didn’t favour the lists format towards the end. The good side of it is probably that they were able to summarise the important points from each book.
I couldn’t relate much to the 4th one, not author’s fault.
So far it’s a good read. I don’t have much problem with the writing.

So far it really hit you deep, making you wonder how much time from your life have you wasted. How much has gone idle and let past? There was a lot of emphasis on many people take much of your time that little is left to your own.
We’re reminded also to not delay time for rest and leisure to later, for we do not know how much time do we have left.
Not much on HOW to live for now.

Lol so the dad gets his chance to be on TV with his favourite host. On a show that he’s been watching for a long time. To showcase an umbrella holder that his daughter grabbed to be inside the building.
The dad is so cute.

Picking this up again after MONTHS. Even thought I’d lost it at one point lol.
I’m only reminded again there’s something about the main character having past life or something. It’s halfway now but the story’s barely delved on that- typical Cecelia Ahern

I LOVE the illustrations but I think the narration is too simplistic. The writing is simple, the stories told lacking depth. I’m annoyed because it seems like an act of one who doesn’t have the capability to publish a book but does it anyway.

You’d do well as an illustration book, but nothing more.

It feels very teen-ish. Very different than what I’ve been reading recently but it’s been alright so far.

Starting again after leaving it at page 12 last Ramadhan.

This year, I took out the book from my shelf before Ramadhan. Stalled and procrastinated until now (21st Ramadhan. Suddenly we’re at the last 10 nights!). Ideally I’d like to finish this (by this weekend lol. But it’s amazing enough if I get to even just finish it this Ramadhan)

This book is a torture. TORTURE.

There are so many good short stories out there. Why choose boring ones to put in the book? Or is the intention to put us to sleep? But the book is such a torture that I go to bed angry 😡

It’s quoting short stories here and there and it gets monotonous. I get excited just to doodle around the pages but it got me thinking, “damn they didn’t fully utilise the spaces nor make it beautiful enough”

The funny thing is, at this point, I feel like the book is more negative than it is positive. It makes us focus on the regrets in life. I have yet to notice where it teaches us to not dwell on them and be grateful instead.
Perhaps later? I hope so.

We’ve been through, what, 3 alternate lives now? Currently at the 4th one which is supposed to be most successful. And yet, there are things she’s whining about. It is perhaps a major deviation from her actual life but obviously by now you should’ve realised that you can’t get everything in this world. There are gains and losses to each choice in life

Regrets Overload.
In the book, The Book of Regrets includes even the smallest one like “I regret not exercising today”. Wonder how thick mine will be. Hope this is a wake-up call to not pile up regrets in life.
Decide and let go, redha.

Loving the book so far. The kind that makes me want to read continuously if I can.

The Aunt and Amabel- Oh God, it’s like the second or third story now with “archaic” language. I’ve been clueless on what this particular story is about. It’s not that I don’t understand it, but this style tend to make the story wander off

The Introduction was great. I found myself highlighting quite a lot because they were so relatable and funny.

First story (The Gift of Magi) was short and sweet. I got the message. But having conjured up expectations from the Introduction, I would’ve preferred that each story comes with a short “Key Message”.

I’m really enjoying this book atm- annotating with highlights and colours.
I love the continuous references to classic books/characters.
So far I haven’t been able to read much in one sitting. I just didn’t think that it’s that kind of book. But I’m kinda “forced” to read as much I can now while I wait for my daughter at this indoor playground 😑

2nd tale.

That is the kind of regret I try to avoid. Better to make time for people now, treat them with kindness than to live with regrets later knowing that you did not do enough or well.

It has been very well-written that it is almost poetic.

Just finished the chapter Marxist. It was basically “love“ from the point of view of philosophers (Marx, Albert Camus, Montaigne, Anatole France and Denis de Rougemont- the latter three of whom I’ve not heard of lol).

The sentences here are long that the meaning gets lost- or perhaps bcs all those philosophies are rather unfamiliar to me.

Even Tatsuya's mother, with her sniffer dog's sense for anything that sidesteps upright conformity, has trouble putting her finger on exactly what it is about me that dissatisfies her.”

Just funny that she joins in the MIL stereotype and remarks as if MILs will find just about any fault with DIL. Not relatable to me though! Lol
