I am now reading the notes after David’s story, and I just want to say that I loved it. If I had $ to get the others, I would do so happily but I’ll have to make due with the pleasant surprise I was given in Deadlocked 1!

It’s got its hits and misses, but that’s to be expected from any collection of short stories. I’d say a majority are about average, not super fantastic but enjoyable. My absolute favorite is “One Saturday, Almost 2000 A.D.” It’s very funny and very unique. It’s inspired me to attempt to draw some of the creatures the writer created. This is one story I’d read repeatedly, enjoying it each time.

The few short stories I’ve read so far haven’t really done it for me. They have fun and are definitely different (a compliment), but I don’t know if this is going to “be my thing”, for lack of better words. I definitely appreciate their imaginative plots, and they have been well-written, so I’ll keep moving forward in the book😊

I'm on "The Dreams in the Witch House". It's amazing that Lovecraft is able to transform something as harmless and innocent as bubbles into something malevolent and living.

I think H.P. Lovecraft is officially one of my favorite writers. I bought this because I was interested in the Cthulu mythos, but there is so much more! My two absolute favorites thus far are "The Lurking Fear" and "The Music of Erich Zann". Shivers galore!

I should be sleeping, but I can't put it down. How does a book with such an outlandish idea (zombie children born of a dead woman spreading the need for brains!) become so relatable?!

I should be sleeping, but this book has me wide awake. I'm engrossed! I can't put it down! How can a writer make something so outlandish (zombie children born of a dead woman spreading a need for brains) feel so realistic? The characters, the victims, poor Saul.

I just finished the first tale, a classic, "The Tell-Tale Heart". I forgot how much I enjoy Poe!

I am so impressed! This writer accomplished adding something new to the zombie canon while staying true to original ideas (ex: eating brains!). I keep getting distracted by life's irritations lol, or I would have finished this entire novel by now.

I really like it! It is an odd, slightly off-putting idea (a child born out of a necrophiliac "relationship"), but the characters are so realistic and relatable that they overcome the initial "wtf". Zombies are honestly my favorite "horror villain", and I'm always happy when someone is able to create a new twist on them. I'm really looking forward to where this will go!
