Either this book is better than it's predecessors or I'm enjoying it more due to buddy-reading it with someone who has a soft spot for the Hunger Games?

It's going the way I don't want it to go. I was hopeful that now that we are no longer in the setting of the cruel court and their hedonistic tendencies, it would be a better playground. Except now I'm finding the relationship between Laurent and Damen quite unrealistic (and fast). It feels uninspired with often the same tricks. Rolling my eyes at the last chapter.

Sometimes it feels like it fleets around a bit? I wish Damen would give us more of internal thoughts rather than just the impressions of what's happening around him. The bath scene just made me frustrated, but the flogging was cool. And Laurent plays him like a fiddle. I'm still reading so there's that

I did not read the blurb and thought this would be in Poland but it's not (for now?). That's okay though, just surprised lol

I don't know where this book is gonna take us by the end of this... All I can say with certainty is that we will get a lot of Valen running around naked from this point on and I'm not mad about it
