What a horrible, horrible family. It’s very funny that the main character could easily prevent his grandpa from dying - but, just, decides to take the harder routes? A mystery of inconvenience.

What a weird, weird trip.

The writing is fantastic. I pause the audiobook often to write down notes, snippets of phrases, and direct quotes from this author.

Chapter Twenty hurt me, but it also made me feel seen. I can identify with so many parts of this book - the violence, the internal struggles, the attempts at therapy, persistent and harmful family dynamics - honestly, it’s a very difficult read.

But it is rewarding. I hope the best for our narrator.

The gang joins a cult.

Stubborn, grumpy boomer dad detective doing everything he can to watch out for his daughter.

Genuinely, it has been a delight to watch the dad stumble through this rich people wedding with multiple social blunders, and then push his investigation with his no-nonsense, direct approach. I am rooting for this guy.

With every curveball they’ve thrown at us so far, I imagine any guess I have about the ending will be incorrect. Honestly, I don’t know where this story is going.

But I’m looking forward to finding out.

If I were the protag, I would have crashed out by now.

This has been quietly devastating. I am only putting it down because I need to sleep. Honestly, the story about the typist has been unnerving and terribly familiar so far, and I’ll think about that for a while.

The second half is much more exciting and fast-paced!!I’m looking forward to figuring it all out, alongside Lindsay.

The book makes me proud to be a part of the work - and excited to try some new ideas for community organizing! I especially love the details on theater.

I adore the way this has been written! The frequently changing perspectives, the tumultuous family dynamics, and the mystery of it all. I find myself wishing to immediately get back to the book while I'm at work and school. Excited to see this to the end.

From the jump, I had not realized this was also a romance, and I am pleasantly surprised. I am rooting for these characters - and their freedom.
