I can’t give this a rating, because I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this being published. It felt DEEPLY personal and I’m assuming she never intended her private notes to be out in the world.

What a fantastic look into how trees shaped Black American history and culture. Montgomery’s love of nature, vast education, and impeccable research combine in a work that I just could not put down. (I read the whole thing in less than 24 hours!) These packed are packed with historical accounts, biology of trees, and personal stories. Love!
