tbh when i read existentialists like camus, i just get more convinced of the christian worldview. like if i wasnt a christian id totally be an existentialist, it’s the only other logical position, so it just makes me happy that atheist existentialism is fake and christianity is real. like bro. ur so right. this world IS meaningless and pointless. so glad we’re not from this world bro. cant wait for heaven bro

it’s kind of amazing how a good novel makes life feel so much more magical. i hate to make comparisons between this book and my own life, bc i know the novel takes a really dark disturbing turn… but the way wharton captured falling in love for the first time and a first love is just so real and accurate and magic. and her description of needleton and how magical it is for charity reminds me of why i love the city

this is probably one of the best books i’ve ever read in my entire life

ik im only halfway thru + JA books usually pickup in the latter half, but this is def my least fave so far. everyone loves it sm so i’m rlly surprised.

elinor seems way too perfect, i rlly dislike her. and marianne is like exaggeratedly annoying.

everyone rlly loves the sisterly bond btwn her and marianne, they’re nice to eachother ig but they don’t seem that close??

and all the guys are bland asf too😔
