So good. Edgar is a bit of a drip but I still like him…

DNF. I just can’t with neurotic female protagonists. This woman was a major a-hole and I hated her from the first line.

Olivia is starting A Dying Fall (Ruth Galloway, #5)
After hearing Ruth (and, inappropriately, other characters) go on and on about how fat she is, I finally converted the 12 stone into kgs so I could actually understand. To my horror, that only equalled 70ish kgs. Now, I realise Ruth isn’t a tall woman but for FFS! That made me so mad. I wish the author did not decide to use weight as a way to (constantly) describe/define her lead character!

Well, I’m not sure why, when there are so many books to read, that I continue with this series.

Peabody is damn annoying. Pompous, arrogant and rude.

I hate her constant belittling of her son, who is a far superior character than she. It really grates my nerves!

Also, I’m sorry but stop with the sexy time. It’s the least believable part of these outrageous story lines. 13 years of marriage and still...nope.

Ugh! Having children isn’t the be all and end all of life. Also, Annie is just as annoying as last time already and James’ arrogance is showing and it’s only page 38…!

So, Wallace is dead & he was reaped to a tea shop in a village that’s real, by a person who is still alive to be ferried to wherever by another human.
He’s shocked & struggling to accept this new reality. Perfectly understandable, I’d have thought,
But yet the reaper & the ferryman are impatient. In fact, they are a couple is assholes, if you ask me.
I’m struggling with this book. Yet everyone else loved it.

I am struggling with the idiot Beatrice. I do not pity her. She is ridiculous. The more I read, the more furious I am getting.

I love these books! Fortune is fierce and Ida Belle and Gertie are just wonderful.

I'd go as far as to say that this is my favourite cosy series.

I’m struggling to connect with this one. I’ve never been Shakespeare’s biggest fan and all the Shakespeare stuff is making this drag.

I do want to know what the deal is though

I am struggling with the tone of this one. Lucy is, once again, being a total pill and James is being such a chauvinistic fool. The woman-hating by other women is also seriously alarming. Lindy and Lucy need to stop being such bitches and James needs to stop being an ass or I'll be dropping these books like Meghan Markle dropped all her old mates.

I’m struggling to come back to this Strike novel. I’m just not looking forward to what I think is going to happen and it’s making me anxious. I usually devour the books in this series but it this one.

Also, Robin is being an absolute twat. I’m sick of her and Corm’s nonsense. I’m thoroughly sick of Matthew, who is just horrible!

I am only 1/4 in and already it's too long.

I am not shipping Cormoran and Robin. I am finding that the times we focus on Robin, I'm bored and annoyed. She is boring and annoying in equal measure and her PTSD is just so forced.

I have a terrible feeling that there's going to be descriptions of animal abuse...I just can't tolerate that...

Cormoran needs to stop moping over boring and annoying Robin.

Oh dear... when Americans write English characters in England... at wartime or shortly thereafter...

I’m only on page three and the style is already bothering me.

I shall persevere in the hope it doesn’t get any worse than it already is.

So far, so great! I’m really enjoying Kate Quinn’s style and her characters. I don’t usually enjoy split stories like this - backwardsing & forwardsing between times & characters - nor amI so keen on books about the war but this has been well handled & both Charlie & Eve are shaping up to be fantastic characters with great stories.

I have got to get this finished before Xmas.

Ok, so I'm only a little way into this book but it's amateur. Now, that's OK - we all have to start somewhere - but it's bordering on becoming totally annoying. There's word repetition - the use of the same or almost the same word(s) within a very small amount of story. And I don't mean "and". I mean descriptive words. Also, the character interactions are clunky, awkward and not at all natural. I'll soldier on though.

So, I am beginning to lose patience with:

1. Liza's attitude about Cindi. Get over your prejudices, old woman.
2. The belief that people simply change who they are because they move to another country. Liza is still English. That doesn't go away.
3. It's not normal to suspect people at the drop of a hat. This was a weakness in the earlier two books and the author needs to work on it.

I'm afraid that I just cannot go on.

I really wanted to like this book, truly. It has a great premise but is terribly executed.

Gemma is a tool. Jayne is annoying. The author is trying too hard to make Gemma awkward and frustrating like the real Sherlock but it just isn't translating.

So, I'm giving up and moving on.

Sorry.

Oh my word, give me strength!!!

Children do NOT make a marriage. What a load of shit.

I am enjoying this book apart from the protagonist CONSTANTLY going on about not being able to have children. FFS!

Lady author you need to cut this BS out. I’m beginning to get VERY VERY insulted. I don’t want kids, can’t have them and that OK!

My marriage is perfect without them. How fucking rude of you to suggest otherwise.

I am about 1/4 my way through this, the second installment in the Merry Ghost Inn cosy.

I really dislike the name BTW.

I like Mel and I like Liza. I don't like how the author has decided that Liza was once English but isn't any more apart from a few small quirks, like drinking tea and saying "bugger". Either make her American through and through or English. It's annoying that she'd trying to have it both ways!

Question - what happened to Elizabeth Maitland? Thinking back to Book 1 - how was she a Maitland, descended from the first Maitlands in Portsmouth? She married a Maitland and therefore there must have been some intermarrying and therefore, it's no wonder that Ellis was a nutter? Unless her husband took her surname?

Question - where is Grandma BB's familiar?
