Struggling - kinda boring - but will keep going

Struggling to keep going. Just finding it a bit … boring

Shelving for now, not grabbing me.

I love this book!

Abandoned. I just found this so boring - couldn’t stick with it

Abandoned. Just found this so boring.

Intriguing but have to admit, I have no idea what is going on most of the time. Sticking with it though.

Ok, I'm into it now

Struggling to connect with this. As I look through the other reviews I'm wondering whether would be better to experience it as audio book, in Magda's own voice. Will persist but might need to do a bit of skimming I think.

Why doesn't Sister Mary just give the typewriter to Queenie so she can type it herself? I don't get it!

Meh. Definitely not loving it. I think novelty wearing thin. Currently fighting against the urge to ditch it.

Seriously strange but I kind of love it

In Australia, this book is titled 'The lost book of Salem'. Funny huh? I have a feeling that I'm not going to like it (especially after reading the reviews here on GR) I'm giving it a go.

Can't stand Alex - an idiotic pompous twit. A caricature of the middle aged man in lust & mistaking it for 'love', wanting it all his own way, all the while agonising about how tormented he is. Blah blah blah. Ugh

Left me a bit cold this one. Enjoyed it overall but couldn't help thinking 'ok, ok, how about just getting over it now'! Also Vickers has habit of going into excessive detail at times, doesn't add anything much to the story or it's telling, just makes it a bit clumsy. Worth reading but definitely not unmissable.
