I’m attempting to allay judgement for now, bc I swear I keep getting into this/ enjoying it and then Hardy will throw in a statement that makes me so utterly annoyed with him, and I don’t yet know enough about his writing or about him as a person to know to what degree he’s doing that on purpose (and for what purpose too I suppose)💀

Lilias Trotter has come to mean so much to me since I first started learning about her, and so I’ve been highly anticipating this book (though somehow only heard about it right before its release)! That the author describes her intention of it as “…a drawing near to someone in a friendship across time,” makes my heart happy.

Listening to this book (to fill the void left by Emma M. Lion, even if I’d meant to eventually read it anyway bc I love LMM) is just further cementing the fact that I think the EML books could lowkey be described as “if New Girl (the tv show lol) was written by L. M. Montgomery”. That is all.

I’ve devoured the audiobooks of this series at a far faster rate than I’ve updated Goodreads but suffice it to say I’m thoroughly obsessed with Emma M. Lion and am so sad to be nearing the end of what is currently published

my one criticism mainly concerns the fact that I really hope someone is feeding the wurse something other than cinnamon buns and chocolate and mulled wine

oh GOODNESS this book is so lovely😭

I know everyone can have their own opinions but it baffles me that some of the first reviews that pop up for this are so negative because “there are too many fairytales” and “there’s too much storytelling within the story” as if those aren’t some of the most delightful things that can happen in a book. I hope one day they’ll be old enough to read fairytales again.

yeah, I’m gonna be rating this 5 stars on the reread. I love this series and I’m so hype for book 3 in January.

Literally got to the last chapter of this ages ago and didn’t care to go back. I probably will at some point for the sake of finishing it but these books just got weird in the wrong direction for me.

me: hates when the cosmere starts feeling a little too MCU-esque and gimmicky
also me: overly excited by any little reference to another planet

esp. when you realize that that the things being described by Dusk are things you actually KNOW ABOUT but that you’re now seeing through completely different eyes omg how fun.

I genuinely have no clue what is happening in this book. And I’m not sure if it’s the fact that it’s been awhile since I read the last or if it’s just how it is. Vibes only in this series fr (vibes & pretty prose and random profound statements actually) But plot?? Not sure about that
