I'm a little surprised that I just read about the (spoiler alert) execution. I wonder what the next 200 pages will be about?

While the story is fascinating so far, I'm not a fan of the "stream of consciousness" method the author uses to tell her story. It reads more like a journal entry than a novel, and the chapters are too long for my taste (although I realize that very short chapters are more of a modern phenomena and this book was written in the 1980s).
