before starting reading this book, i knew little to nothing about iraqi history, and so far, it’s been extremely interesting to learn about it specifically from the perspective of women, despite those interviewed being mostly upper class urban women. i found it very interesting how divisions were political and intellectual rather than sectarian too, dispelling my preconceived notions.
