No not Kafka there isn't the underlying paranoia but more like austers NY Trilogy. Marias entertains and his inspection of everyday life and circumspect description makes you think of personal items and their importance.

just started but this reminds me of Kafka and the trial the way the narrator describes actions happening to him and probably because he begins by discussing talking when you do t have to and the justice system. it is very good so far though.

I hate the way this guy writes so far, no dialogue at all??????? I hope his other stuff isnt like this or I am skipping him altogether for as long as I can, he has 4 books on the list?

this is great the daughter says she will pray a novena for business to pick up that way the dad can pay for the horse he is getting her which he can not afford, and she asks "I wonder which saint is best for that?" he replies "I heard that St. Jude is the saint of lost causes." haha

Wow what a great story, and I think the character Jack Pozzi is symbolic or a pun on Ponzi scheme?

I sorta hate Oscar and hate all his whining, sorry I just cant empathize with him. Entertaining storytelling though.

I like the book so far, and I am hoping I can get into this series!

this is so good, on page 205 of my copy:
some males claim to dislike women, others to like them, but all share an original, undying fear. Every man is irrationally and overwhelmingly conviced that woman, having created him can destroy his as well. men are ll sexual bigots. the distinction between dislike and like only separates those who resist womens poer by attacking them from those who try to exorcise it.

a bit like fitzgeralds great gatsby so far.

Okie dokie this sort of reminds me of at swim two birds by flan obrien, the book gets lost inside the 2 protagonists who are searching for a book that gets cut off then another one catches their attention. I liiiiike it, I like how it discusses readers predilection for getting a final definite result, preferably the result they desire.

this guy was tough to read early on, but hes pretty dry funny and I have about 4 great quotes already.

Its not even scary its more like firestarter than a horror type book.

I dont buy what this author is selling.
