every other sentence you just want to like put on a billboard to show how fucking amazing the writing is, but like what do you do with it in the end? you gotta keep reading and just leave these sentences behind. sad! using an em dash and a double hyphen in the same sentence edifies Faulkner as a god

How come every boy in this book is pure of heart, every father is a saint that has a great one-on-one relationship with the child (that the mother is left out of), the mothers are all whiny and one-dimensional, and the girls are unreliable? This won the pulitzer? It's a good thing I like trees
