Really fascinating doctoral thesis based on the Downshire Estate papers deposited with the public records office of Northern Ireland. The estate is/was one of the 40 or so largest in the British Isles; I think the figure of 100,000 acres is mentioned. What makes it particularly interesting is that it included both (or mainly) substantial interests in east Ulster (Down) *and* in Leinster, at Blessington and Edenderry.
