It might strike some as heretical but this book for me confirms that Lenin's analysis of the peasantry in Russia was just flat out wrong; from the start of his political career almost until the very end. He seems to have finally realised that capitalist economic differentiation wasn't occurring by the early '20s. Practically anyway. I don't think he ever integrated it theoretically. Neither did any of the Bolsheviks.
