I'm on a DNF kick today

I have so many fucking issues with this book but jesus wept, BUTTER AS LUBE?

Why is Tom finding anal sex so painful? One finger plus lube up there shouldn't be that bad? Like, Mischa is all 'im going to make you hurt' and then literally puts one finger up Tom's ass and Tom is like screaming????

This feels like it was written by someone who has never experienced anal tbh.

Genuinely not sure whether or not I should keep pushing with this one or just DNF it. Every time I think I've made up my mind, I change my mind.

Whoever owned this copy before me has written notes on all the pages where there are historical inaccuracies...

Whyyyyy is it a 'thing' for literary novels to not use speech marks? Speech marks serve a purpose, and trying to keep track of what is and isn't dialogue and who's speaking is doing my head in and I'm only 20 pages in.

Maybe I'm just not smart enough for literary fiction, or at least not smart enough in a 'literary' way.
