It’s kind of slipped into a lull at this point. I hope it picks back up.

The author is good at writing depression, but there’s no reason for me to pity the narrator. She’s just a huge asshole who looks down on everyone else. Depressed or not, she’s insufferable.

The story feels like it’s running in circles.

It’s hard to deal with the narrator’s underlying tone of thinking she’s smarter and better than everyone, though I suppose depression isn’t all being sad and angsty. If she was full of herself before this slump, I don’t think things would change now.

Even if I’m depressed, I’m at least more productive and less spoiled than this protagonist.

Bizarre so far.

The only thing holding back this book is how juvenile the main character’s inner monologue is. I’d rather this book be written in third person because Kara keeps making so many pop culture references. The Lovecraft one got me so mad because no, Lovecraft isn’t all tentacle monsters. Way to miss the point.

The millennial humor and language is irking me. I get that the protagonist is 34, but she’s a bit too quirky for my taste at times. Setup is very intriguing.
