Im 8% in…53 minutes in…7 chapters in…and I can already tell…if this shit doesn’t pick up soon, I’m going to chuck this book into the Did Not Finish pile.

I’m half way through and finished Part I….now min headed into Part II of the book and I’m getting concerned that this may become boring. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t and continues to hold my interest and intrigue the same way Part I did.

I have followed the author on social media for decades. Well before she became a Single Black Mother. I am fascinated by the story of her life experiences.

Brandy still talking about this car accident. She was the 4th car in the accident but folks still think she killed somebody. I mean..somebody did die but it sounds like she was a part of a chain reaction car accident.

Brandy sure has been in a lot of abusive relationships. Jeesh.

This is a really good memoir!! Poor Ray J. He’s been getting the short end of the stick behind Brandy his whole life. LOL!!

This Old Testament is extremely boring and difficult to get through. It’s not interesting. Do this don’t do this to here don’t go there when they do this you do this when they don’t do this you just do this. what. Is. This!!!! Get me outta here!! Boorriinnggg!!!!

So far so good. I am finding out that Brandy was bullied about her looks. She has always looked odd to me and apparently a lot of people from her childhood thought so as well.

Finally! After a stretch of books I could not finish because they were garbage…I’ve found a book that is holding my attention and is entertaining!

The way Clay Cane is narrating this book is almost a complete turn off. This staccato speech pattern he is using is definitely advise he should not have taken. He really needs to stop narrating his own books.

So, I’m now realizing these characters are all slaves on the same plantation.

This is exactly why I borrowed this book and didn’t use my Audible credits.

So there is a homosexual theme to the story line….a storyline about slaves…has a homosexual theme….le sigh. The author is homosexual so I guess…

I was able to find the book on Hoopla. There is an ungodly wait for this book on Libby. I didn’t want to use an Audible credit for this book because I’m not a fan of Clay Cane’s previous book.

So far, the storyline is pretty good. However with only one narrator for the audiobook, and clearly two different storylines occurring at one: the first wife and current wife, it’s hard to know which story the narrator is speaking on.

It took me a minute to find the time to start this book despite it being categorized as my Current Read. I must say, either this book isn’t as good as the first two of the author’s from this series I have read, or I may not be in the right mindset to have started the book, or the storyline of Hendrick’s mother is triggering to me, or, I’m just a pervert causing me to only enjoy the sex scenes btw Hen & Mav.

I’m on Chapter 30….I have listened to over 10 hours of this book with over 6 hours left…..and I am thoroughly entertained. This book is so good!!

Im on Chapter 12. So far, Ms. Tina has lived an interesting adventure of life. She’s currently pregnant with Beyonce.

This book is so trauma based at this point I’m laughing at some of the traumatic shit that’s happening to her. This is really all crazy.

So much trauma. The author is doing a great job narrating her book. So much trauma.

I’m only 55 minutes into this audiobook and I feel like I’ve listened to a lifetime of trauma….but not in a bad way. The author’s words and the voice of the narrator is masterful. I’m in.

This is really cool listening to Eve tell her life story.

So far so good. I had no idea “Rap” meant Rhythm And Poetry. Who knew!?!

I’m enjoying it. Partly the author wrote AND narrated this book. Often times I find authors who narrate their own books do not have the voice to do so. However this particular author’s narration voice is captivating and is a balm to the story of his childhood matriculation into adulthood.
