But will I read the rest of the series? NO!
I have it on good authority (my friends) that the author manages to somehow ruin it, so I choose to preserve the good image of my Pip and Ravi.

I 100% recommend anyone of any age to read THIS one, tho. Then decide for yourself if you wanna keep reading after!!

I don't know guys... I know this book is about a murder, but I'm really shipping Pippa and Ravi right now. I read so much fantasy and the brooding, mysterious men archetype gets on my nerves, so Ravi just being a sweet and nice cool dude just makes me fall in love very easily. I'm loving this tho, and I've already got some bets down on who killed Andie so we'll see!!

Everyone and their mother has read this book and I feel like I GOTTA be missing out on something, bc this is a debut novel and they usually don't get that famous

This is taking so much longer than Circe (which I struggled with in the middle) !! Why do authors insist on adding bad tropes to their books?? I ate up 60% in one day then BAM!! Reading slump due to a stupid stupid plot device T _ T

This man took her to a café without a chaperone, held her hand, AND kissed her cheek. 1800s my ass. Clearly the author needed the time friend of the ottoman empire, but didn't want to research/deal with the social norms of the time. And I don't blame her. As you were Isabel, I actually love that you didn't bother 🙏 I never cared for historical accuracy, anyway

Guys... It's a historical setting 😭 I don't read historical. Any moment in time before the 1970s was a TERRIBLE time to be a woman and I'm not into it. I get claustrophobic with the amount of societal constraints these women had so why would i willingly choose to spend my time reading about it?!?!?!? It's a good story tho so ill keep reading but I had to vent

She is not as hardheaded as me. She would stop reading it by the first third when she got bored, then spend the rest of her life promising one day she would finish it.

Circe is used and abused by everyone (I'm not even gonna talk about the glossed-over rape???) and there is no satisfaction to be brought by her overcoming it bc she does not!!! Miller is humiliating Circe... For the sake of humiliation?

The prose is beautiful, Circe is an amazing character (at least she WAS on earlier chapters) but it's all very... Underwhelming?? Circe loooooves men (we've been through at least 5 lovers) but hates... Her own nymphs? She treats them as inconveniences. She never rises against the abuse of her siblings or rebel against the punishment of the gods. Alas, #Disappointed

I wanna DNF this. All of you guys giving this 5 stars are LIARSSSSS

Okay, so, really funny thing about me reading Circe right now, is that I'm ALSO reading Percy Jackson. On his series, I'm on the book where they go to the maze built my Daedalus, Icarus's dad, for the minotaur. But the minotaur is technically Circe's NEPHEW so we are getting the whole backstory on this book, too. Funny how life works!!

The idea that Prometheus changed little Circe's life with a 2min encounter is sooooo 😭 he is dying once a day, he will never again know joy, and I think Circe, in some shape or form, is trying to honor that sacrifice as best she can
