This is taking so much longer than Circe (which I struggled with in the middle) !! Why do authors insist on adding bad tropes to their books?? I ate up 60% in one day then BAM!! Reading slump due to a stupid stupid plot device T _ T

Aaaaaaand I already know I won't be reading the next book :( miss author put the trope I hate most in this book and I refuse to keep reading abt it any more. If it's not just a misunderstanding on my part, I will finish this one and DNF the series

This man took her to a café without a chaperone, held her hand, AND kissed her cheek. 1800s my ass. Clearly the author needed the time friend of the ottoman empire, but didn't want to research/deal with the social norms of the time. And I don't blame her. As you were Isabel, I actually love that you didn't bother 🙏 I never cared for historical accuracy, anyway
