Thought I'd give MF Contemporary another shot, especially after the last one turned out so bad (Overnight Service - Lauren Blakely).

These kind of books really are a dime-a-dozen. Pure fan service without an ounce of substance. This one, in particular, was straight-up Lit Porn (and not the good kind). So, sayonara!

*tosses book off building to watch it cascade into utter oblivion*

Only took 1 month and 1 day along a whole lot of housecleaning/down-time to finally get through this dang book. Ugh! Review coming soon...

Setting this one aside and I doubt I'll ever get back to it. This book is written so nonsensically, it's practically fanfiction (and not the good kind). The protagonist is a 2,000 year old vampire that was turned at the age of 15-16 – has an abusive boyfriend, does kiddie porn, and works at McDonald's?! Idk, this book's just not for me.

I knew, from the reviews, that this book would be slow-going at the start. But I didn’t anticipate just how hard of a struggle it would actually be. Ugh!
At 30% right now and there is almost no plot or love-story progression. This book has more of a ‘day-in-the-life’ feel about characters that aren’t that interesting or likable. Please tell me this will all be worth it in the end...

I was initially intrigued by the “full cast” description for the audiobook, but this is a bit of a dud. Nothing I haven’t read before in a hundred other romance novels. Typical relationship angst and misunderstandings. I may finish this eventually but setting it aside for now.

Just opened Book 2 and I see this:

Eek!!!! Not my precious Percy!! How dare you, WTF!

I can’t... I just... my heart is beating so fast right now. Book One was so sweet and cute and endearing. I know I asked for more plot but...

(cue: internal struggle)

Just going to dive in head first and see what happens. Fingers crossed!

Halfway done and I'm still not sure where this book is going. The romance that I was originally hoping for (based on the synopsis) was developed and achieved in the blink of an eye... SAY WHAT? And now the story is meandering on a completely new thread. So at this time, I have to set The Guppy Prince aside and grab something new to fill my romance craving.

(sigh...) Not really my cup of tea. I enjoyed the unique, almost bait-and-switch story tactics this author decided to employ. But everything else, I didn't really care for (unlikable main characters, overly-gruesome death scenes, etc). May pick this up again in the near future, especially since I only have a few chapters to go, but for now its TBD.

This book is very much in need of an editor.
