Reading physical books is hard when you have a wandering attention span and cats who keep climbing on you and trying to sit on or bite the book.

I can roll my eyes at all the fat-shaming because it was written in 1995 and what else can you expect, but the most egregious example was a guy making a "'joke", based solely upon her name, that a doctor sounded like she was fat and liked cats. Then the woman who heard the joke laughing and thinking that he was funny. That's not humor. Fat-phobic and funny is bad enough, fat-phobic and not even funny is pathetic.

Me when I started listening to this audiobook: I don't think I'm claustrophobic, I used to love small spaces as a kid.

Where has this book been all my life? I love it so freaking much...wish I didn't have to waste so much time sleeping or at work, I would start over and read it in one long sitting.

Between excusing cops being violent at home as the result of job stress and what I can only describe as "fatphobia," this book is kind of pissing me off. Ellison basically said cops are protectors but are not themselves protected and that's why so many turn to bad behavior, but it set up cops as victims instead of condemning the bad behavior. Extremely problematic in light of current events.

Scribd thinks I've been reading too many ebooks and won't let me read this until 6/5...I am not a patient person.

Steve Erikson's version of 'hobbling' is 1000x more disturbing than Steven King's. The beginning of this book had me cracking up at Tehol and Bugg but I'M NOT LAUGHING NOW :(

Nine hours left in the audiobook and nine hours left in the year...dare I attempt to finish before midnight??

Yeah I've read this series a couple times, but I just found out there's a 4th book, and after 32 hours of the Toll the Hounds audiobook and 5 books in the Robot Geneticists series, I'm having a bit of book ennui anyway.

Almost 400 pages in, and I still can't get over a guy in a high fantasy novel named KYLE. I've begun pronouncing his name "Keel" in protest, but my Vine-addled mind keeps waiting for someone to say, "What the FUCK is up, Kyle? What the FUCK is up?"
