Giving this a pause first.

I can't connect with the protagonist, June. I'm reading her story like reading an article. I kept wondering why do I find it plain, like forcing myself to eat just plain rice without the side dishes. Then I realised ah, there's hardly any conflict... Is this really science fiction just cos she is dealing with mechanics, jargons and other technical terms? I dunno if I shd keep going... 🥱

It's cold, hardly much emotions, our protagonist. Just a matter of fact. But what is unsaid is apparent. She is lonely without her Uncle. The no-speech marks for dialogue make the whole story rather muted and distant. Perhaps that's how she is seeing the world.

I don't read Science Fiction. But the pink cover had seduced me. I'm trying my best to enjoy it. A new taste for me so I'm chewing each page slowly. Without expectations.

It's really a gentle read. And so touching 🥹. Hope the journey won't end too soon for 🔺Flo, Ayako ⚫ and Kyo ⚪. So will continue tmr.

Amat suka sekali dengan gelagat orang kampung. Sungguh lucu! Tapi sekarang misteri semakin serius. Siapakah lembaga yg ditemui Cha dn Kuppan? Hoo hoo, tak sabar nak terus membaca cerita cilik ini.

I'm going slowly. This is the type of book that you should savour every word.

An intriguing first chapter... And some good proper prose. Much needed cleansing after reading a terrible thriller....

I'm getting used to the writing style. And things are finally happening across the street at the Russells.

Yups... Still reading. But just not connecting with the protagonist? So much reference to black white movies... I'm trying. Will keep going.

I'm gonna just not think too much. Just read and enjoy this thriller.

Interesting and fascinating so far. But the deal abt thrillers is that they tend to come in bursts of short sentences. I understand the need to show tension and quick pacing but... I don't know... Maybe it's just me finding it a lil frustrating not being able to visualise the settings well...

I had enjoyed Hitchcock's Rear Window. So I'm enjoying so far this possible retelling of a classic. And also kinda relate to her phobia. 😱😅

The first story made me laugh at her eagerness to return. The second made me cry... But what blissful endings... Can't wait for the rest!
