Giving this a pause first.

I can't connect with the protagonist, June. I'm reading her story like reading an article. I kept wondering why do I find it plain, like forcing myself to eat just plain rice without the side dishes. Then I realised ah, there's hardly any conflict... Is this really science fiction just cos she is dealing with mechanics, jargons and other technical terms? I dunno if I shd keep going... 🥱

It's cold, hardly much emotions, our protagonist. Just a matter of fact. But what is unsaid is apparent. She is lonely without her Uncle. The no-speech marks for dialogue make the whole story rather muted and distant. Perhaps that's how she is seeing the world.
