Yeah, they probably didn’t say ‘sicced’ in the 11th century, and now I want to confirm when ceramic mugs came into existence. Also, “live a little”? “Angst”? “You don’t say”?

I just read about Lugh and it’s August 2nd—one day after Lughnasadh: his Harvest celebration. If that’s not a synchronicity. Also, last month I read “The Wren in the Holly Library” which also mentioned the Tuatha Dé Danann. I like it when things like that happen for me.

Now story-wise, the writing is good and story is intriguing, but I don’t like the modernisims. Ugh. 😒

This is getting better and better.

I am enjoying the author’s exploration so far of the concept of “the beast within” and being lovable as a whole, including your darkness. As well as, how you begin to see yourself when you grow up seeing your reflection in the eyes of others look a certain way.

I love the writing so far, but I am beginning to notice a little modernisms creeping in.

Did they have “purging… from your system” in 1006? And “live a little”? And “endgame”? And “western world”?

I feel that I’ve reached a point where I’ve read so many things that I can see glimpses of different books/themes in other pieces of work. For example, I’m also getting The Witcher vibes and quite possibly the “The Taming of the Shrew” I needed because the original grates on my nerves so much.

Uh-huh. Chapter seven. The banter is *chef’s kiss*.

OK. So I’m getting Beauty and the Beast vibes—which was already announced in the synopsis, if I remember correctly. But also… potential *spoiler alert* Sleeping Beauty—the curse as birth part, and Snow White—the colors and beauty of the baby.

It also has a pretty decent dose so far of Irish folklore. Love it. 😍

The badass beast of the FMC is so delicious. I was grinning as I was reading her beast form.

Also, I am reading a physical copy and listening to the audiobook at the same time. Would recommend. Especially for the pronunciations.

Even better. It’s enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies-to possible lovers. Aaaahhh. This makes me happy.

Also, page 69. Nice. 😁 (Yes, I have the humor of a middle schooler).

OK, I feel that I’m going to give a blow-by-blow of this one. 😁

It’s enemies-to-lovers. I love enemies-to-lovers. It’s my jam.

I have wanted to read this book since it’s launched. Let’s do this. 😁

Converging my enjoyment of Regency and Cthulhu.

So far, it seems that even if you’re unfamiliar with the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG, but like cosmic horror, you’d probably enjoy this book.

Dude, the Egyptianisms used so far are making me chuckle. 😄 I’m enjoying the book on a level that non-Egyptians, and non-Arabic speakers will probably not experience.

I also feel certain sad tugs of familiar—some, quite recent—realities at my heart. The feels I expect to feel if things progress.

So far, it’s shaping to be a quick read.

The story seems to be fast-paced, with interesting characters. The writer’s style is engaging.

I wonder if the Magdalena introduced in chapter twenty is the Magdalena from “A Dowry of Blood”?

Why is this book so long?

I mean, chapters 19 and 20. Someone needs to call the fire department. 🔥

That being said, I’m not sure what’s going on with the writing and all the typos; not to mention the repeated sentences and phrases. Is it because this was a pre-ordered first print? I mean the writing was always average—not in a bad way—but something is off with this and the last book as well. I’ll still read the whole series.

I am struggling to finish this book. It had no business being this long. What needed to be said could’ve been said better AND in fewer pages. I really wanted to love this book. Truly.
