I am struggling to finish this book. It had no business being this long. What needed to be said could’ve been said better AND in fewer pages. I really wanted to love this book. Truly.

Have to say, though, about loose storytelling: there is also a choppiness in progression, in the sense that when giving context in the middle of a scene it has to be done smoothly so that the reader isn’t jarred out of what’s happening by an info dump.

Happened a couple of times. Irritated me when I was taken out of progress of story and info I wanted to know for sake of background author wanted to share.

Glad story currently progressing differently from Star Wars saga. For most part, fan fiction seems focused on “new” MMC & FMC (but more so MMC, I feel. Especially physical features.) Of course, there are Star Wars-y glimpses here & there. I mean, The Hurricane Wars? Repeated several times.

Storytelling is too loose for my liking, though. And “hero’s journey” feels like it started from an odd point.

I see the Star Wars fan fiction-ing. Love the saga—the original trilogy more than anything else—but I’m not sure how I’ll feel about 472 pages of fan girling. Not that I have anything against fan girling; nor fan fiction.

As for the writing, the creative style is fine—nothing major yet. Pockets here and there.

The magic system is interesting and the world building is shaping to be on a grand-ish scale.
