After reading the letters of Berlin I wanted to read another of her books.

This should be read along with 1984 by every American!

Not my favorite but enjoyable!

Child knows how to build excitement… I’m expecting the story to end in 5 minutes to find there are 2 hours remaining. This the first time I’ve laughed out loud while listening to a Reacher novel.

This book is sad!! I need some feel good! Macomber. I’m adjusting to the epistolary form.

Easier to follow after the first chapter… letters are difficult in audio form.

It’s been a long time since I’ve listened to an audiobook and a Macomber book. I’ve missed this!

Very interesting and revealing that from the beginning Islam has been about conquest like that of so many societies but also jihad. Convert or get beheaded was the same theme in the 12th century. We learn so little about the crusades where all Christians are grouped together, but it was really spear headed by Roman Catholics- who killed Jews and Christian and Muslims. Hot mess!

Weird book!

Easy read… page turner. There are missing details but Man is honest about it. He writes like a journalist in some chapters but I would recommend reading the book

Interesting history well written but objectively I don’t know yet…

Why does he change the spelling of the names in part two of the book? Geruthe is well established as a character. The King is portrayed mostly through her eyes. He’s seen only in interactions with her. Gertrude is the central character and she’s very interesting and not as innocent as she appears in Hamlet.

The Israelites are taking land… destroying the Ammonites and the people under king Bashan and God Adonai covered them. He granted them land even though it was not the promised land.

I am currently in the book of Numbers. There are so many parallels in the church today and Israel in the desert… complaining, fickle, ungrateful…

I’m curious to see how this compares to Ron Chernow’s book!! Twain is one America’s most underrated writers! At times this was difficult to read due to sentence structure but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the writings of Twain!

The writing remains challenging but the book is interesting.

Having read A Connecticut Yankee in King Authors Court for summer reading prior to 10th grade… I have a fond memory of a memory ofe enjoying this book. I can’t give any details because it’s been more than 30 years. My sister raves about Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, neither of which I’ve read. I own his complete works and I saw this book on a library shelf. The sentence structure is annoying…good info!

Enjoyable…I love the comic strips placed in the book. I will add this to my personal collection

I love world history but so little is fought in school. I walked past this book in the library while browsing for nothing in particular. The tile caught by attention. I’ve heard of Saladin but in what context I do not recall. This is the first book authored by John Man that I’ve read. It’s confusing in transition of characters at times but enjoyable. I learned that Christians were killed in the Crusades!
