I am just not having great luck with incest in books this year. I should've researched Empress Wu more before reading this; I could've just read a wikipedia article instead of having to read such a detailed & disturbing three-way sex scene between her, her husband, and her sister.

Yeahhhh … I’m not going to enjoy this. It came so highly recommended by everyone too! But it reads like a generic school YA novel with a mysterious time period that doesn’t match the dialogue, over explains everything as if the reader doesn’t understand anything that’s not explicitly stated, and already tries so hard to be edgy it’s ridiculous. Why does everyone online hype these types of books??

Finally! Everyone's been talking about this book. Can't wait to see what it's all about!

(whew). Okay ... SOMEWHAT prepared for this. I love the story and characters so much, but I already know the novel version is full of rape, fetishization, and homophobia. I don't know if I'll last ... :S
