She’d cooked for her family, to show them that she loved them, to keep them healthy, to keep them safe. & then her daughter had disappeared & then reappeared as a small selection of bones, & the body that Laurel had spent almost 16 years nurturing had been picked apart by wild animals, scattered across a damp forest floor; all of those things had happened in spite of all three lovely food Laurel had cooked for her.

I’m not sure why this book did not add to my now reading list after getting it to my Kindle, but I’m about 68% done.

I am only listening to all of these Baldacci audiobooks because my life is so irritating, the world sucks, and I need a diversion. And they’re fun.

i’m still reading this book. But I kept going back chapters and now my e-book doesn’t show me the chapter titles when I look at the table of contents, so I have no idea what I’ve read and what I haven’t. I feel like I’ve already read about the McReynolds brothers but meaning about them again. That’s only chapter 10 out of many, many chapters.

me: I think it’s interesting when authors interpret the blind faith of practitioners of Islam, and they come off sounding like fundie Christians, only purer.
