Quammen is a very good writer

Seems more about the interpersonal relationships behind the seminal scientists than evolution itself. I guess Quammen is known to be more journalistic and anecdotal.
It was nice to finally be able to wrap my head around all the biologists I’ve heard mentioned several times over in other books but never been able to quite bring together in my mind.
I hope it covers the evolution of vertebrae in detail.

From the very beginning of the book, the language is impressive. Personable and intelligent, but not too academic.
