'Then did King Turgon call a council, and thither fared Tuor and Meglin, as royal princes; and Duilin came with Egalmoth and Penlod the tall, and Rog strode thither with Galdor of the Tree and golden Glorfindel and Ecthelion of the voice of music. Thither too fared Salgant atremble at the tidings, and other nobles beside of less blood but better heart.'

Littleheart, sone of Bronweg (Voronwë), tells the story of Tuor, his coming to Gondolin, and its fall. In the first version of this tale, the son of Huor set out on a journey under the command of Lord Ulmo in search of the hidden kingdom of the Gondothlim. His guides were some of Noldoli elves enslaved by Morgoth, though secretly in service of Ulmo. However, out of fear, the elves deserted him, save Bronweg.

Sometimes in dry weather it would appear to completely dry out, but on a humid day, a puddle would again appear under it. When baked in a small oven, white stalactites droops from the grill. When left on a steel radiator cover, the brine starts corroding the metal. And on a small copper tray, at the bottom of the rock, green crust starts to form, and when removed, the copper had been polished.

Author Mark Kurlansky had a lump of rock salt from the Cardona salt mountain. One day, it got rained on, and white salt crystals started appearing on the pink. By the next day, it was sitting in a puddle of brine that had leached out of the rock. After a few hours, square white crystals began to appear in the puddle; that was due to solar evaporation. Yet the rock never seemed to shrink.

Though the tale of Beren and Lúthien is one of the most essential portions of The Silmarillion, the story itself had gone through quite a lot of revamps and revisions. The tale had primevally rooted from The Tale of Tinúviel, then The Lay of Leithan, later Of Beren and Lúthien from the Quenta Silmarillion. This book has it all, a compact anthology of all versions of the tale.

I have read Chokshi's, Cervantes', and Chadda's contributions to the Riordan Presents anthology, and I plan to read and finish the remaining when I can. The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities, however — as I have heard and hope, would introduce me to the universes of these amazing authors before I may actually delve deep into their individual stories/series.

It has been a long time since I've last visited the wonderful, fantastical world of John Flanagan. The tale of Maddie and her master Will continues as they were captured by the Lord of Chateau des Falaises, Baron Lassigny.

So ends the great tale of the offspring of Húrin Thalion, Lord of the North. It concluded on much of a tragic note, yet the story was beyond enjoyable nonetheless.

Túrin took no heed to the information and sent the messengers back to where they came from. Túrin advised Orodreth to engage the Orcs in open battle after hearing stories of a large gathering of Orcs under the shadow of Ered Wethrin. The army of Nargothrond marched out to meet them but was forced back into the field of Tumhalad and destroyed, and subsequently, Orodreth was slain there. Then Glaurang came to Túrin.

Despite their brief earlier friendship, Gwindor started to grow in spite of Túrin's presence (for reasons I try not to include in any of my posts on any social platform). One day, two messengers from Círdan came before the King and told him of Ulmo's warning, that the Enemy is approaching and the denizens of Nargothrond must make haste and find refuge. Túrin, proud, did not trust them and took them as liars.

Túrin met Gwindor Prince of Nargothrond when he escapes the bounds of his captors, and Gwindor brings him to Nargothrond, a sub-terrestrial kingdom originally built by Finrod Felagund. Gwindor, scarred and battered from the countless battles, was not recognized immediately when he returned home. Over the months, Túrin, known in Nargothrond as Mormegil the Black Sword, became one of King Orodreth's trusted advisors.
