Daniel de la Pointe is on page 250 of 366 of The Sound and the Fury
It's still too soon to have an opinion. Somewhere there's a logic to this madness. I see it, but not fully. I hear the last chapter is the glue, so I'll wait until then to say more.

The question remains, who or what is dangling him? The military, as they delay his service, or something else?

Daniel de la Pointe is starting The Problems of Philosophy
I thought this was going to be a criticism of philosophy, but it's turning out to a very good introduction into the problems of Knowledge the brightest minds since Thales have struggled with.

I swear, if this book never becomes critical of his understanding of love, I'm going to have an aneurysm

There's little to no importance in the current timeline, where the man is hiding out from a gunman. It's a frail excuse to slide back and forth in time to events that are clearly far more important.

It's not that the idea of using a single scene and then reflecting on past times is inherently a bad idea; it's just that the single scene does not matter. Maybe it will matter later.

Daniel de la Pointe is 80% done with Dracula
My friends are saying this book is good because it illustrates the power of friendship while overcoming a seemingly overwhelming darkness. The book is very good at making that point, but its long length has shown its high-reaching goals at the cost of moments of mundanity. The entries told from the perspective of Mina are long and don't add much to the story.
