Rachel is starting Inside the Victorian Home: A Portrait of Domestic Life in Victorian England
"The Victorian house became defined as a refuge, a place apart from the sordid aspects of commercial life, with different morals, different rules, different guidelines to protect the soul from being consumed by commerce. Or so it seemed."

So we've been trying to protect our souls from being consumed by commerce for over 100 years now, huh? 😅

I'm not normally into sch-fi but I absolutely ADORE this book. So excited that there's a whole series! Almost done with the first one, then I'm on to the next.

Nick gave Charlie his hoodie

Their little moments in class, playing rugby, texting, in the locker room, etc. are so cute. Totally obsessed with them

I love the artwork and I enjoy the storyline. The humanoid cats are the only part I dislike.

The half-human cats are... horrific, to say the least. It's worse than 2019 cats. Very imaginative designs, the art is technically sound and well executed, don't get me wrong. But yikes. Nightmare fuel.

Going in blind, I didn't expect this book to make me so emotional?? It's like a therapy session in the best possible way.

True love's kiss 😭😭 I literally had to put the book down because I almost started squealing at work.

Rachel is on page 190 of 289 of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Maya Angelou's Autobiography, #1)
"To be left alone on the tightrope of youthful unknowing is to experience the excruciating beauty of full freedom and the threat of eternal indecision. Few, if any, survive their teens. Most surrender to the vague but murderous pressure of adult conformity. It becomes easier to die and avoid conflicts than to maintain a constant battle with the superior forces of maturity"
