Am I reading the same book as everyone this feels incredibly disjointed

I think the setting and descriptions of the castle is not letting me feel immersed in it I just can’t picture anything

Page 1 or 2 and I’m confused why a duffel bag is huffing an anxious sigh. I understand flowery writing but are we humanizing the bag is this how the writing will be the whole time

idk i hate to say this because i know so many people love this series and there's nothing inherently bad about it like the writing is fine, the characters have compelling issues and quirks but it's just not sinking its teeth in me like im not pulled in

You literally have to read every sentence and then reread to follow along - I LOVE IT

Well in the last 10 percent he stopped being killer fae - otherworldly being - and turned into what feels like a stock contemporary bad boy romance so that’s something. Still enjoying it but the build up to this and then hovering between conflicting feelings doesn’t feel quite right

Okay I’m having a slight problem where the actions aren’t lining up with the thoughts and we get BOTH povs so I’m having trouble feeling like it’s realistic (no spoilers)

Okay this is…really great…like I know there are lot of fantasy romances out there right now but this is realistic in the sense of trauma and emotions from years of things happening (rambling words right now will formulate later)
