The way this is literally the funniest book I’ve read all year. I’m so glad I’m ending this year with this book.

One thing about classic retellings: it reminds you why you loved the original.

In this case, I’ve had a heart-shattering realisation that I wanted to give Sidney Carton the world in a tale of two cities, and I want to give him the world & take away all his pain even more in this book.

HOLY SHIT WAR FLASHBACKS

I already have great expectations for this book since it claims to be a tale of two cities retelling. That’s one of my absolute favourite classics & so I’m excited for a fantasy twist to it.

I’m all over the place these days but I’m back to continuing this book after being MIA & I’m still so intrigued by everything that’s going on. Like I don’t trust ANY of these mfs.

I’m already shaking my head at Perseus’s fate

Read this as a kid & thought this was the best thing I had ever read. Rereading for the whimsy of my childhood but it’s just not holding up lol

Such a cute book!

I gotta say I’ve been hooked since page 1.

DNF at 60%. I literally cannot force myself to get through this anymore.

This book has been a test of patience for me. I’m so used to enjoying fast-paced, plot-driven books that intentionally taking some time to process everything going on in Beartown is making me read it slower. But I won’t have it any other way. I’m really enjoying the deep dissection of characters in this book & am eager to know how each reacts to the defining moment.
Not a big fan of hockey yet though 😭

Look, I’m all for recreating the plot for it to be more complex, coz we all know JKR didn’t do that in the OG. But no amount of creative excuses & faults generated for Ron’s character will ever be able to justify the Draco & Hermione ship. It just doesn’t work 😭 these fics always end up mischaracterising Harry & Ron & I don’t like it at all. It’s hard to focus on the plot even though it’s enjoyable.

The reason I do not like reading ship fics in the HP ficdom is coz JKR developed these characters in a way that reorganising the OG romantic ships with other characters does so much injustice to the og pairings & the character left behind 😭 for Dramione fics, it’s usually Ron & I hate it! This fic, too, has come to a point where Hermione has bizarrely rationalised why she’s rejecting Ron for Draco 😭

I literally cannot give a damn about this ship. The only reason why I’m reading it is because I’ve heard from way too many people that this is a more refined ending of the series & it doesn’t turn people apart from the trio to mere caricatures so I’m intrigued.
Plus, the more JKR tweets, the more I hate this series & how some parts of it was handled. So, with this, I’m waiting to be surprised, I guess.

WE’RE SOOOOOOOOO BACK

I feel like I’m reading my favourite read of 2025 within its first week. How are other books ever going to compare?

I’ve put off reading this book for 3 years now & I don’t know why!

This one’s gonna be a slow, drawn out read tbh

50 pages in & I realise as an editor how subjective editing is coz why is the writing style over-descriptive??? & why didn’t the editor flag it or cut it down?? i’m intrigued with the plot but the writing style is definitely causing friction in reading. I hope I don’t DNF this book.

Absolutely loving this book. I feel like I’ll devour anything this author writes.
