Christ's return as the fulfillment of our Amens is such a beautiful concept.

I have mixed thoughts on this book so far, but I love John's ability to write and frame things beautifully.

Kind of a slog at the moment but I've heard the set up tends to be the hardest part and that it gets better. Just gotta stick with it...

The protagonist is kind of annoying me, haha. I think I'm not going to like this one very much.

I already knew I'd DNF it before I even started reading, so I'm mostly just trying to get it over with and out of my TBR list. I'm pretty close to solidifying my opinion, but gonna read on a little more just to round it out more.

So far Adler is mostly discussing Aristotle and rhetoric- which I don't particularly care about, so it's a bit of a trudge atm.

I do love his writing style though, so I think once the topic shifts I will probably really enjoy this book.

I always thought "self love" and "positive affirmations" were dumb, and cringe. As I've been Sarah's thoughts, I've been slowly realizing that I think I've been totally straw-manning the concepts.

She doesn't talk about "self love" but instead of the importance of self compassion, and I much prefer her terminology. I think it communicates more precisely the sort of intentionality we should regard ourselves with.
