Something about this book reads like a first draft. It feels developmentally off like the ideas are kind of sketched out here but someone didn’t go through to connect, question or deepen them.

I also feel like Maurice’s characterization is all over the place. He’s like a black anime nerd with severe allergies, this debonair Mercedes driving/cigar smoking/materalistic Bond like detective and 1/2

Hands down is the most important book I’ve read this year but we must acknowledge the only major source she provides is a quote from the body keeps score and children of emotionally immature parents
