really enjoying it so far! horror comedy is always so fun and the author really nails the tone

why does every conversation in this book end at an extremely unnatural stopping point

like they’re walking away or a scene is ending mid-conversation and it’s happened at least five times wtf is up with that

I feel like this book would’ve benefited from another draft before publishing—so many things (annabelle’s sketchbook, the whip, just in this chapter) aren’t foreshadowed or mentioned earlier at all and I feel like it would’ve been caught by another draft and more rigorous editing

bro why weren’t the laws included at the start of the book?? I feel like it would make so much sense and give a peek into the world early on!!

I love the concepts in this story—it’s really refreshing to see a take on elemental magic where the struggle comes from containing the power rather than making it stronger, and the elverkin are a cool twist on the idea of familiars. However, so far I’m pretty underwhelmed by the writing. Hoping it improves in the second half.
