It's definitely a YA novel. Very mansplanny and drawn out in its explanation... and hooray, everyone lived... At least I wasn't crazy about the timeline stuff. He doesn't age while the games are on? They're only on for a week at a time every few months; how can that slow down decades of aging? Cause th old man at the carousel was defeinately Legend with his wrinkles and old age, so Julien should also be very old....

Again, listening not reading, so I'm guessing on the spelling of "Deangle" but I'm sure it's an anagram for "Legend". Though if I look it up I know I'll get spoilers.

And this is just where it 6 me, I can not suspend disbelief and get submerged in this story. Her desires are so trivial. She makes it seem like there are these big stakes, and they are not, and the sullen teenager affect is just so off-putting that it disconnects me from the story and I can't buy into it.

Yes You Can! You can absolutely help it! Do not stay with people hurt, you, do not lay the foreshadowing for someone to be in a relationship with someone who hurts them. No amount of facial symmetry or pheromones mean you should stay with someone who HURTS YOU!!! Stop telling young girls this is okay. This is supposed to be a YA novel, but it is incredibly irresponsible for spreading such a message.....

"I'm really sure it's not" still might be one of the best lines in the book. Top tier voice acting by the narrator👨🏽‍🍳💋
