there are so many gems in this book. noticing so many i missed in my first read

i don’t know the last time i loved someone’s writing so quickly. i’m barely in and i feel undone

whats it called when the writing is incredible but reading it puts you on the verge of a panic attack

i’ve only read the first two chapters and already i am undone

i really wanted to love this. i read the shock doctrine at 15 and i still consider it to be one of the most powerful, politically astute books i’ve ever read. doppelganger has some gems but has mostly been disappointing. longer review to come

i am obsessed with this book and don’t want it to end. it is freaky and gay and trans and so well written and now i want to learn everything i can about the satanic panic

ok i really thought i knew a lot about q anon but this shit is so much more wild than i thought !! i cannot stop thinking / talking about it

abdurraqib’s RANGE as a writer is truly unmatched

i love her writing and was super interested in a few of the storylines but overall it felt like too many characters / subplots to follow, and some felt v underdeveloped

if you love basketball (esp if you’re a lebron fan), you must read this (and listen to it on audiobook bc the narrator is EXCELLENT)

re elliot’s description of gender based violence as a kid / teen: i have not yet read someone describe the frozen terror so aptly, the quiet acquiescing and the insidious erosion of self worth. it’s particularly meaningful to see this described by a trans person, and i’m grateful for his vulnerability.

i cannot stop laughing while i read this it is truly the most delightfully bizarre book i’ve ever read

so far not really into this but i wanna be !! gonna give it a lil more time

i’ve been enjoying this so much…and then i got to section 6 which starts off strong with right wing anti castro / cuba propaganda … so disappointing
