At last I have finished the first part of The City and Its Uncertain Walls, and I think I am now able to dispense with my reflections. Reading the first chapter immediately made me think of Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. Now, after reading all 26 chapters, the entire first section, I must admit, there is not one thing new here. Everything that I've read feels like something I've seen before. /1

Back to books after some time away. What a book! The last one I needed from Murakami. A perfect choice with its short chapters. The first chapter reminded me of "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World", and I’m excited to dive deeper into more Murakami.

When Death comes very close to you, the rest of the world goes far away and you can feel a great loneliness. At such a time kind words are comforting and strengthening. They make you feel that you’re not alone, that maybe you haven’t lived and worked in vain

As I reach the conclusion of the book, my opinion remains much the same as it was when I wrote my thoughts last week: disheartening. Had it been any other writer but Llosa, I would have abandoned the book altogether

What a disappointment! My mates had hyped up my expectations so much that I was anticipating the best book from Mario Vargas Llosa. However, so far, the experience has been incredibly underwhelming compared to his other works, and it falls far short of his masterpiece, "Conversations in the Cathedral"

This book is truly exhausting my mind! I want to finish it, but I'm reluctant to do so at any cost. Reading it demands a great deal of energy, and I feel like giving my brain a break and letting it rest for a while

Diving into David Foster Wallace's prose isn't exactly a walk in the park. His language is like a world of its own, a quirky, personalized lexicon that he conjures up with just a handful of words, some of which you won't find in any dictionary! Reading his work demands a slower pace, far from my usual reading tempo, but I love to get lost in his world.

مزاح بی پایان! کتابی که من در دست گرفته و مطالعه‌اش را آغاز کرده‌ام، در همین ابتدا به من فهماند که قطعا و تحت هیچ شرایطی امکان ندارد از چنگال تیز سانسورچی فرار کند، و بنابراین قطعا محتوایش در ایران با سانسور نابود شده است. حالا خود می‌دانید که بیش از یک میلیون تومان برای خریدش هزینه کنید یا خیر...
*در آینده و به تدریج بیشتر از کتاب صحبت خواهم کرد و فعلا در حال جا افتادن در داستان هستم.

I haven't yet gotten around to reading 'The War of the End of the World', but the fourth chapter had a lot of discussions about it. Initially, when I saw the title, I wanted to steer clear of spoilers, but then I changed my mind and decided to give it a go. I'm actually glad I did because MvL knew just how to discuss it without giving too much away.

America, the South, and the black-and-white conflict! When you weave these three elements into literature, it screams William Faulkner! But let's set that aside... For now, I'll just say, I really enjoyed the simplicity and fluidity of this book at this point in my life.

“They just wasn’t interested in me.”
This was the weirdest reason for flight I had ever heard. “How come?”
“Well, they stayed gone all the time, and when they were home, even, they’d get off in a room by themselves.”
“What’d they do in there?”
“Nothin‘, just sittin’ and readin‘—but they didn’t want me with ’em.”

Immersing oneself in the prose of Mario Vargas Llosa is undeniably captivating. I admire those fortunate souls who had the opportunity to engage in riveting question-and-answer sessions with him. How I wish that during his residency in England, I had the chance to attend and witness his brilliance firsthand. Just imagine relishing a cup of coffee, accompanied by a sincere tribute to the literary master.

An exceptional literary gem! The author's prowess has left me spellbound, surpassing my expectations for Arabic literature. Little did I anticipate encountering such literary brilliance in a novel. Here's to hoping its quality remains unwavering until the very end.

Reading Dostoevsky’s diary holds its own significance. The book offers a collection of his prison notes and, although the principal character ostensibly carries a different name, the resemblance to Dostoevsky himself is starkly evident. I must admit, the book doesn’t quite reach the lofty standards of his major works, yet there’s something about his insight here that captivates me.

I was utterly surprised! Only Dostoevsky could contemplate the challenges and sorrows of incarceration with a philosophical perspective on his very first day in prison!

This book, in contrast to the second installment of the Harry Potter series, didn't open with a tedious or lackluster beginning. The author has once again ensnared me with their narrative, and I am hopeful that this captivating storytelling will persist until the very end.

Congratulations! Prince Harry and Meghan got married, and things turned out differently than I expected, except for Kate's envy. I could understand Kate a bit, but her childish actions seemed odd considering she is married to William, the future king of Britain.

Prince Harry, alone one evening, was scrolling through Instagram when he came across a captivating post featuring an unidentified woman and her friend. In a single glance, this mysterious woman stirred emotions in Prince Harry that no other woman had in his thirty-two years of traveling six continents. That woman was none other than Meghan Markle.

Awesome! Now I get why Prince Harry joined the British Army, went to Iraq, and left. The book also talks about his time in Afghanistan and what he did there. I don't usually read biographies, but this one is really good. I genuinely want to embrace Prince Harry warmly after reading it.

Chapter eight's conclusion left me astounded, paralysed, fixated on the wall. The bewilderment lingers, torn between forging ahead and stepping away. The narrative, cloaked in foreboding, sustains intense tension. I hesitate to proceed, lacking resolve to disengage from this gripping tale. The climax, a suspense reserved for tomorrow.
