Restarted this about 6 days ago because last time it was just way too English for me but yeah I’m enthralled now.

Has this book taken me nearly a year to read? Yes. Am I enjoying it? Yes. Am I enjoying it more than reading 100 pages per week about the Italian renaissance written in pretentious art history jargon? YES!

I think I’m slow

Originally started this a couple months back but did not have the time for it. Robbins is best read slowwwwwwly there’s just too many juicy details I don’t want to miss. Reading this is as relevant today as it was when it was written 30 years ago. And I wasn’t even alive so I can tell u I’m right.

I can’t believe this was in my “want to read” category on purpose. Like it’s not a bad book but I feel a wittle embarrassed reading it in pubic. “It’s for class!” I cry to myself internally every time I pull it out.

I will never not favor Tom robbins over dignified literature

I like the book but sometimes it feels like I’m being told jokes by the smartest, most annoying person I know.

If I ever lose my 30lb dumbbell at least I’ll always have the power broker this shit heavy as shit

This book is so odd. But it’s my own fault for cracking open another tom Robbins book and expecting anything that isn’t super fucking…odd.

If I was Peter jackson and I had to adapt LoTR into a movie I would also cut this chapter out. Not spoiler but how did we go from respectable kings and wars to like silly fighty laugh-time. I’m about to finish a trilogy I don’t feel like silly fighty laugh-time. Make me cry!!!!

Buying mint condition vintage books and having to open and use them and be the sole cause of accumulating wear and tear would be a great torture tactic (this is my life!!!)
