I enjoyed the Alaskan storyline and the community that evolved. It took folks awhile to adjust to new law enforcement but the stories they created were fun and interesting with a bit of mystery.

Cheryl is starting The Eighth Sister (Charles Jenkins, #1)
This was my first read by Dugoni but it definitely won't be my last. It was one of those, 'hard to put down' books because each chapter was either a cliff hanger or just a need to find out where the next one was going. There was a lot of information, depth and emotion and the characters were interesting and often surprising. I even fell hard for the villain at the end!!!

Cheryl is starting Secrets She Left Behind (Before the Storm #2)
I enjoy Diane Chamberlain's books but this wasn't a favorite. The complexity of affairs which altered so many lives and the switching from one person's perspective to another along with the repetition was tiring. Also hard to believe that in a small town no one recognized Jordy. Really????

Third in the series. This one focused on Philip --my least favorite of the brothers. But they all add their special talents, wisdom and humor. Getting a bit tired of their testosterone ravishing but Nora Roberts always throws some scenes in there to heat things up.

Cheryl is starting That Summer
This is a book club type read which would open a number of viewpoints for discussion. The women depicted are discovering themselves. The men are influencers and shapers. Their lives are affected by early life experiences which define them. Success and prestige or lack of is controversial. Individuality and the formative years are the backbone. What can be changed to make the future better?

Cheryl is starting The Woman with the Blue Star
Informative in that I had not read any books that addressed the lives of the people who hid in the sewers. Some of it was heartbreaking, yet some of it lacked credibility. The fact that Ella was being watched fairly early in the book, yet was able to continue to loiter over a sewer grate to chat with Sadie and sneak her food didn’t seem realistic. A bit fragmented, but the storyline kept me interested.

Challenging read for me. I read the 1st 200 pages then skipped to the last 30. The concept was interesting but the page to page was difficult.

I FINALLY finished it! Most books take me a day or two—this one took forever. It was very slow and very detailed. The only thing that kept me going was wondering how they found out and what happened to her—and the fact that I never give up on a book.
