The trial chapter might be one of the dumbest things ever read. Roark is an absolute tool who deserves every bad thing that happens to him. Rand is a fucking idiot if thinks this makes him look cool

It really sucks that such a talented writer had her brain broken by the USSR that she formed the most dog water political views.

Toohey is such a great character. Manipulative lowlife son of a bitch. But interesting all the same.

It's very interesting that the main villain of the story tries to encourage people to build charities for the orphaned and disabled.

Rand is good at making full faceted characters.

I can never tell if I'm supposed to think Roark is an asshole or not. Rank makes it clear that Keating and Toohey are supposed to be hated, but with Roark I'm not sure what Rand's intent is

As much as I loathe Rands politics she is a good writer. She does manage to write extremely rich characters, when they're not being paper thin caricatures Rand wants to setup to knock down.

Roark sucks

Yes we are definitely supposed to empathize with Roark. Shown by the fact that new female lead is lusting after him with the passion of suburban mom who just read Fifty Shades of Gray.

I get the feeling Rand wants me to feel for Roark. That he's the misunderstood "great man" but the entire time I just think he's a huge dick who refuses to work with anyone.

More emphasis on dividends than I'm used to seeing. Should look into this more.
