Good mystery. The way the two main stories weave together is well done

Not a fan of the mid chapter tangent on the history of Lucius. Just leave it a bit of a mystery until we can learn it naturally. You don't need to break the flow of the chapter with a multi page back story

Nothing new to add. No character development. No new revelations. Book is kind of like a Rollercoaster; it's the same sensation over and over. I still don't like the writing but hou get used to it.

So far not picking up on the fascist accusations. Definitely very pro military. And large sections really do feel like it's just Heinlein lecturing at you through a characters monolog. But no fascism.

Entertaining. Characters like to monolog. Military is painted as absolute hell and our main character is repeatedly pushed against it. Main character instantly joins in the in group thinking the second he's part of the infantry.
