This book is all plot and no character logic. I got so frustrated by the constant mental editing processes that I was subjecting myself to while reading that I had to pause. Not as teeth-gritting as Kristin Hannah, and dammit, I may just have to finish this to see where all the threads end up, but ... arrrrgggghhhhh. Fantastic speculative fiction promise, shitty storytelling execution.

Officially an RF Kuang fan now. An absolute literary palate cleanser after mentally yelling at my previous DRC. (Which I still might finish, TBH.)

It's a race against time to finish this audiobook before it's due back on Libby! I'm at the second appendix (which contains crucial nonfiction context) and *might* be able to eke it out.

I am in the middle of so many books right now. An unfortunately casualty of my ALA ARC haul

Not romance, not erotica, but, oh, the smutty literary yearning of it all. Feels like a novel someone started writing in 2006 and just got around to polishing for publication. (not a knock.) Cleo is a manic pixie dream boss.

I feel very very sorry for everyone who has to wait until March 2027 to crack into this absolute DELIGHT of a very Kingfishery cozy grumpy/sunshine mystery

"Even for demons, driving across Texas is a little like eternity."

I have NOT started reading this but I just downloaded the advance copy and it is ABSOLUTELY the next thing I'm picking up after I finish these dang dinosaur books.

This is basically scientifically accurate* T-Rex fanfiction. I'm not complaining

*I think?

Listening to this on audio really makes me appreciate my Greek and Latin root tutorials back in high school. So many new dinosaur names! I am probably still misspelling them all in my head.

How are we 60% in and we're JUST about to start the heist? Love the plot, hate the pacing.

BIRDS 👏 ARE 👏 DINOSAURS 👏

Getting some real Heavenly Creatures vibes from this one at the start

"Y'all this book is so dummmmmb. It is built on the most tenuous plot framework and relies entirely on the complete and utter social and emotional immaturity of all of the key characters and the least Science of all Sciences. BUT... it is the Sexy Zombie Apocalypse!"

I downloaded this for the Sangu Mandanna story. I listened to the first three stories instead. I might skip ahead to hers before the audiobook has to go back to Libby. Probably won't do the whole thing.

My gynecologist recommended this and it is SO good. The narrator is *chef's kiss*. I'm like every middle aged lady with a book club but I DON'T CARE.

Also I have knit most of a hat while listening. I am a very captive audience

IDK why I keep coming back to Sarah Gailey. WHYYYYYY, she says, and then she willingly downloads an audiobook about a main character who is sexually attracted to viruses.

Will I actually finish this one? Maybe I will!

I have paused in my listening to try out the advance audiobook of Nobody in Particular by Sophie Gonzales, and have no regrets.

Why on earth is it impossible for me to finish a romance YET I stay up way too late reading excruciating true crime books? Am I secretly a dark and disturbed person in a dark and disturbed world?

(Yes?)

Not marking this abandoned yet, but check in with me in 3 months

This book feels so draggy on audiobook. I just got to invasion day and I'm not convinced I'm going to see this one through
