The angst is killing me right now! In the best way. Romance novels are the best because no matter how painfully low things get for the characters and, by extension, for you as the reader, you know for sure it’s all going to be fine in the end. If only real life were like that. 😆

Loving this beautiful story even more than I did before. I have a feeling the entire trilogy is going to get 5 stars from me this time around.

Melissa is 80% done with The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion Vol. 7
Has there ever been a fictional heroine who gets into more mortifying yet hilarious scrapes? It's just nonstop lunacy with Emma. I don't think even Anne Shirley can compare in that regard. The latest: Islington, the servant's corridor, and a cockamamie story about her being his ward. It's even funnier in the audiobook. Everything is funnier (and sadder, and more delightful, and more thought-provoking) in the audio.

I can’t put this down! It’s even more beautifully written and emotionally wrenching than I remembered. The slowly building angst is so good! And Christy, the vicar hero, is the most wonderful person. I just love him.

Melissa is starting Beguiling the Beauty (Fitzhugh Trilogy, #1)
Rereading this novel (which I apparently wasn’t too crazy about the first time!) for this month’s discussion in The Ungovernables historical romance book club. Maybe I’ll appreciate it more this time around - and after reading and liking Beast by Judith Ivory, which inspired Sherry Thomas’s novel.
