Really loving this book so far. I enjoy stories where women do things that are true and brave and don’t follow normal literary expectations. The main character’s romances are secondary to a story about women working toward their goals and a part of a city that’s changing and how people fit into it. Feels real and hopeful.

I continue to slog through this. I think part of the reason it is so long is that we are following more than one birth story that exists primarily for the sake of existing. Similar to other reviewers, it seems like every woman in this town is having a baby at the moment and it feels like we're being introduced to characters for no real purpose and without knowing anything about them afterwards.

Fun read so far, although something about it is giving millenial cringe. I know I shouldn't care about that but it doesn't feel self-aware enough.

Determined to finish this even though it's quite dark and long.

I'm thinking this book is unnecessarily long. So far, there has been a lot of words and not very much plot. I don't see why most of the words matter, and ultimately don't think they will add to the story in the end.

Currently struggling through this as it is a bit dark-humoured and I'm not really sure I am hooked on the plot.

Rereading this for the first time since 8th Grade, and I have to say I'm getting a lot more out of it this time. Not only do I now live in the UK, giving weight to some of the places mentioned, but I also have more context for the era in which the story takes place.
