Nonfiction Listen on Audiobook.

My second book for my 2025 “Reads from Friends” challenge, where I ask friends what book they say is a “must read.” This one was recommended by Brianna - looking forward to diving in further!

Wow. So much to digest in this section. I am so shook. And heartbroken.

Maysilee, girl…there are simply no words.😭 I already miss you.

Quite a few quotes stuck with me, as I process the past few chapters. Putting it in the comments to reference later.

Oof. So much has happened. My gosh. My heart hurts - especially for Haymitch, Wyatt, Maysilee, Lou Lou, Ampert, and Betee.

One of my favorite quotes in this section has been Plutarch saying to Haymitch, “You should know that, despite appearances, a desire for freedom is not limited to the districts.”

President Snow is the absolute WORST. And Suzanne wasted no time reminding us of that in SOTR. To quote Maysilee, “a special kind of vicious.”

Love seeing more of the Plutarch WE KNOW from the OG trilogy. Loved the “I think he believes you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” remark about Plutarch from Haymitch. Plutarch deserves a best acting Oscar for his ability to play a double agent. #IYKYK

IM SO SHOOK.

“I like to think it was mutually beneficial,” says Plutarch. “And the audience is none the wiser. I saw to that.” - Plutarch on manipulating footage of the reaping.

YOOOOOO. Suzanne is NOT holding back. She is out here emphasizing just how foolish and easily manipulated humans can be. 👀

I have so many thoughts on Plutarch right now. I’m trying to understand how he becomes who we see in the OG trilogy.

Not me already crying and having to put the book down after just Chapter 2…😭

Jonah has truly become one of my favorite Old Testament books, and this study has been such a great reminder of God’s merciful love & patience.

“To fear the Lord-to regard him with reverence and awe for who He is-is to walk in obedience to Him. Yet frequently we fail, and so the Christian life must be a life marked by confession and repentance to the God who is willing and able to forgive us and transform us.”

“In fleeing from God’s presence, Jonah runs away from the very One who is the source and sustainer of life.”

“If we are in Christ, God is not our enemy, but our refuge.”

“There is great comfort in the abiding presence of the good, sovereign, and merciful God.”

A WORD - such an encouraging read today👏🏻👏🏻

Absolutely shook at the (pleasant) plot twist about who Nelson is in Lara’s present life (compared to who he was in her past). 👀🥹 #IYKYK
